Creosote and Freeze

My chimney is chock full of creosote that gets knocked loose when people walk around upstairs, making the house smell like campfire yearround. The gray soot settles on the peace lilies and elephant ears. I gently blow it off.

Wind chill took us down to 20 degrees last night. It's unusual for here. A new record. Tomorrow it'll be 60. Weather shock is hard on the plants and the humans. My dog doesn't care. She stands out in the freezing wind like it's still summertime. Comes inside and begs for ice cubes.

Outside of summer, nothing here is reliable.
