cop warmth

There's this cop I've become acquainted with who frequently stops by the shop to look around. At first I figured he was checking to see if we were conducting illegal activity at the shop, which is not so unreasonable an assumption. I sharpened the police forces' knives for free. This one cop who comes by all the time, openly does not at all like being a cop. It sounds very boring mostly. Periodic animal mutilations or bag-snatchers. Traffic mostly.
This cop also does not look or act like somebody who would decide to become a cop. Like a normal desk job guy was suddenly forced against his will to become a cop. Moping around and stammering phrases he heard in cop school but doesn't really feel it like the other cops. Hates giving tickets. One can sense a complicated dissatisfaction rarely visible with cops.
