Bridge City, TX

Bridge City's 7th birthday on diaryland.
Bridge City is a town in Texas just north of Port Arthur and a few miles from the Louisiana border. I never lived there but knew some people from there. They told me that in high school all the kids would drive to Louisiana to party because the drinking age there is 18. This became a complicated moral conundrum for the parents of teenagers in Bridge City, where it was illegal for 18-year-olds to drink. Stories abound of drunken teenagers standing on the other side of the border while their parents and cops on the Texas side waited for them to cross back over. After deliberating this loop-hole most parents and authority figures decided the best they could do was tell their kids to be careful and make good decisions.
