sxsw and hippies

SXSW went well. Of course its an enormous blur but thats what Ive come to expect. I played 6 shows and attended about a dozen. Ive come to the conclusion that most people between the ages of 25 and 35 are either hippies or norms. There are various types of these hippies running around.
-biker hippie
-war vet hippie
-washed up athlete hippie
-70s rocker hippie
-countrified hippie
-farm worker hippie
-auto mechanic hippie
-stripper hippie
-70s Chicano hippie
-punk hippie
Etc.
Its all the various types of youth fashion made prominent between 1962 and 1982. The height of fashion. And everybody now has simply hippified everything with their long hair and beards and feathers and bandannas and vests and bracelets. I guess I dont really have anything to complain about since I just described myself.
Here is the list of (hippie) bands that I saw last week:

Shapes have fangs- saw them twice. Its that good. Seeds + Beatles
Fishboy- also saw them twice. Denton hyperpop
Jam engine- Austin freak out
The blow- saw a couple of songs. 1000 drunk people packed into a club is no way to see her perform
Faux fox- Denton synth a la Gary Neumann
The Archibalds- they did a stellar cover of Mott the Hooples sucker
The hunnies- Austin indie
Ponytail- fucking awesome
The minnetta- NYC art groove
Folklore- all the members of elf powers sans lead singer (who was sitting on the couch next to them while they played)
Corn mo- badass Denton magician/musician. Sounds like Queen
Crack pipes- righteous Austin garage soul
Black moth super rainbow- this was one of my highlights. The effects on the vocals give it the extra mood. Almost as good as Air.
Toko-ri get high- Austin rock, stones + Santana
Howlin rain- the guitar player from comets on fires new band. They suck.
Monotonix- Tel Aviv band destroyed the venue. Literally. Look it up.
The sword- best Austin metal band ever
Sssspectre- I wasnt paying that much attention by this point
Hello lovers- the most refreshing thing I saw all week. Cello, violin, piano, male vocalist with no microphone sings like an old-time jazz singer
Sweet lee morrow- Clinic + Lynyrd Skynyrd, maybe not
Poor people- played after sssspectre
It lives- super drunk NYC psychedelic. The bass player was so fucked up he couldnt stand up. They got into a fist fight with each other before the set was thru and made-up 5 minutes later
Big black smoke- another groovy Austin psyche-soul band
The high strung- complex Detroit garage rock. The singer has a really high voice.
